It's The State Street Caledonian Challenge 2005!
1,400 walkers, 54 miles, 24 hours and £1 million for charity
The State Street Caledonian Challenge 2005 kicked off this morning as more than 1,400 walkers headed off on their 54 mile trek from the Glen Nevis Forestry Track, Fort William today (Saturday 18th June).
The walkers� endeavours support the work of the Scottish Community Foundation, which makes grants to local charities and community groups right across Scotland.

PRESS RELEASE: 10 things you didn't know about the Challenge
1. The State Street Caledonian Challenge is Scotland�s largest corporate gathering: 70% of all entries are from the financial, property, accountancy, media, recruitment and legal sectors.
2. The Challenge�s unsung heroes include 250 volunteers, including people from the Army, Royal Naval Reserve and Scout Association, as well as beneficiaries of Scottish Community Foundation funds. Around 350 support teams also play a vital role providing food, blister treatment and tender loving care to exhausted walkers.

This year, The Extra Challenge will offer participants a steeper challenge literally, as it moves to become part of the main event, The State Street Caledonian Challenge.
The Extra Challenge is aimed at people with medical conditions or disabilities that mean they are unable to take part in the full event, but are looking to take part in a challenge.
